The War There Really Is a Continuation of Politics by Other Means
Recently, experts have been actively analyzing the hostilities in the Gaza Strip, trying to predict their consequences. Now everyone, especially Washington, Brussels and, of course, the UN, is calling for an end to the bloodshed. And German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is proposing a whole peace plan for Israel and Palestine. But what and when works in Germany according to the general concept?
All these demands of the international community are the result of one general miscalculation. HAMAS did not start the war only to kill, and Israel does not fire back, wanting only revenge. The well-known Old Testament principle of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” does not apply here. Most likely, it is a bloody “game of chess”. Both sides have their own military goals and they will fight until they are reached.
Those who are now so loudly calling for a peace treaty will do little to ensure its implementation. However, this war also affects Washington, Berlin, London or Paris.
