NATO Strategic Exercise in Eastern Europe

Berliner Zeitung on the DEFENDER-Europe 21 Exercise

An article about NATO’s strategic exercise in Eastern Europe has published in the Berliner Zeitung newspaper. This DEFENDER-Europe 21 exercise is the Alliance’s largest such event since the end of the Cold War. More than 28,000 servicemen from 26 countries are focusing on building operational readiness and interoperability between US, NATO and partner forces.

Today, as pointed out in the article, many Western media are spreading alarming reports about the concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine. And also that Moscow explains it by planned maneuvers. However, the Berliner Zeitung notes that the fact that similar maneuvers by US troops and their Allies near Russia’s western borders were carried out almost simultaneously remains without due public attention, although the connection between these events is more than obvious.
