Space Policy Chinese Style

Geopolitical Aspect of Preparation for the Flight to the Moon

Today, the media publishes materials about the leading countries’ geopolitical competition in space. For example, there are reports on another success of the Chinese space program, in particular, the successful space launch from the cosmodrome on the island of Hainan in southern China.

China began its space program in 1956, the first Chinese satellite was launched in 1970. Although it is believed that China was the fifth space power (that is, launched its own satellite), but at the beginning of the 21st century, it became the third by space potential.

China is actively trying to make up for its lagging behind, and may become not only the USA’s, but other leading space nations’ competitor as well.

Russia, which lacks the money to maintain even its  ground scientific, research, and military-technical capabilities, is incapable of making far-reaching space plans. After several failed space launches and due to the incompetence of space managers, Russia is lagging far behind, and China is becoming the USA’s major competitor in strategic space rivalry.
