Quo Vadis, Russia?

The referendum satisfied Putin, but the “improved” Constitution does not eliminate Russia’s problems

The recent referendum in Russia on amendments to the constitution is important not only for its organizers. This is confirmed by publications in the European media, which cover the nature of the so-called free determination of the people, provide facts on the “correction” of statistics and outright suppression of protests.

The referendum ended exactly as expected: the election commission announced that Russia unequivocally supported amendments to the Constitution that annulled V. Putin’s previous term as president of Russia and allowed him to rule the country for life.

However, the duration of his reign is increasingly becoming an argument against himself. Many Russian citizens think: if nothing has been created in the country so far, why should it happen in the next ten or fifteen years?

Are Russian voters and their Moscow rulers aware of their future? Where are they going?
