The country’s new course will be determined by the next generation of politicians
Germany is discussing the latest developments regarding the ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU), a member of the ruling coalition. After all, on September 26, 2021, elections to the German Bundestag will take place, where a new Chancellor will be appointed, as Angela Merkel will curtail its political activity. Germany’s new course will be determined by the next generation of politicians.
Will this course be balanced, will the balance between the preferences of the party electorate and Germany’s national priorities be maintained, as is the case with the ruling coalition of the Christian parties CDU, CSU and SPD? After all, this course depended on the ruling coalition’s and the Chancellor’s personally approaches to cooperation with international partners, security structures, especially NATO, on Germany’s transatlantic commitments and the US President D. Trump administration’s obstructionist position on Europe, Russia’s hybrid influence on European values, the migration wave, etc.
