View from Germany and Switzerland
One of the most popular Swiss German-language daily newspapers, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, published an expanded analysis of the current problem of migration and international terrorism, which is relevant not only to Europe.
Terrorism has much in common with global migration. In particular, with regard to the very issue of international terrorism, all political camps use standard phrases, excuses or half-truths in order to avoid unpleasant conclusions and responsible decisions. Everyone agrees that the most dangerous is the radical right-wing terrorism. This can be said about both, Germany and Switzerland. But for Europe as a whole, this statement is not entirely correct. Because everyone knows about the numerous terrorist attacks by Islamists not only in Germany, but also in Britain, France and Austria. And there is no ideology posing a greater threat than the radicalized Islam.
The consequences of such activities and the damage done demonstrate the following half-truth: the military cannot cope with terrorism. Weapons are powerless against an ideology that is firmly entrenched in the minds of millions of people.
Concerns about the progress of Islamist movements and international terrorism are growing in Germany and Switzerland, as well as in other countries of the EU and the world. So far, adequate solutions and political will to eliminate the problem are not observed. The geopolitical démarche of the violent Islam and its radical offshoot, religious terrorism, is gaining momentum in Europe and is a significant existential threat to the European law, security and values.
