The Reaction of Western Countries to Current Challenges
Analytical centres of Germany summarize the results of the previous year, while predicting the course of further developments in Europe and the world. In particular, this is published in the final fourth issue in 2020 of the German Journal for Strategic Analyses SIRIUS.
The journal analyses mainly the reaction of Western countries to the challenges from unfriendly or even hostile countries, which try to question and fundamentally change the international order, Western policy and values. These include Russia, China, Iran and, to some extent, Turkey. The main topic of discussion is whether, and if so, how deeply the categories of “deterrence” and “defense” should be revised, and what specific challenges the Western world needs to be prepared for.
