The United States Has Opened a New “Front” Against Russia in Central Asia

The new Cold War between Russia and the West, which arose over Ukraine, exacerbated their confrontation in Central Asia. As part of this confrontation, Russia began to support the anti-American actions of Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan. In response, the United States opened a new “front” against Russia in Central Asia in order to disperse its forces and drag it into a new conflict near the Russian border. This is the basis of the USA’s decision to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan.

As for Ukraine, despite the remoteness of Central Asia, the development of the situation will significantly affect its national interests. For example, dispersing Russia’s forces and diverting its attention to countering Islamic extremism will be positive for Ukraine. In fact, a new “Islamist front” is opening up against Russia, which will require a reorientation to it of a large part of Russia’s troops, which are still aimed at Ukraine.

At the same time, near Ukraine, that is, in the North Caucasus of Russia, an armed conflict may resume, which would create a continuous zone of hostilities from the Donbas to the Caspian Sea. And so Ukraine would not only remain an “outpost” of the Western world in countering threats from Russia, but also a frontier in curbing the penetration of Islamic extremism into Europe from the East. In this way, Ukraine will have real grounds for its membership in NATO and the European Union.
