Moscow has completely lost the opportunity to regain its control over Ukraine
Ivan Sichen
February 2022 marked the end of the history of Russian-Ukrainian relations. The Putin regime has openly demonstrated its imperialist nature by recognizing the “DPR” and the “LPR”. Of course, this was a quite expected move by Moscow, which has failed to achieve its goals of gaining control of Ukraine by political, economic and even military means. That is why the Kremlin has taken such a step, which can be compared to an act of direct military aggression against our state. Although, what will it cost Russia itself? That’s what we’ll talk about in more detail.

…Even such an inadequate leader as in the today’s Russia should have at least some sense of self-preservation… |
It seems that Moscow has lost its common sense completely. And this is not surprising, analyzing the Kremlin’s policy since 2007. However, even such an inadequate leader as in the today’s Russia should have at least some sense of self-preservation. Especially as even Russia’s last “ally”, China, through its Foreign Minister Wang Yi, directly supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity during the Munich Security Conference.
However, as always, Russia has its own way. But where does that way lead it? In 1917 it led it to the collapse of the Russian Empire. And in 1991 — to the self-destruction of the USSR. The same is likely to happen with Putin’s Russia. As the saying goes, “the lesson has not been learnt”, which fully applies to the current Russian Federation. And what a country it was… And now it is liquidating itself.
Let’s start again with China, which to this day remains Russia’s only real “hope”, apart from such Russian “allies” as Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba or Syria. Which is another confirmation of Moscow’s real role and place in the modern world. But we will not pay attention to them, but will return to China. Most Chinese banks have refused to lend to Russia and, in general, to cooperate with it. And who needs it when China’s trade with the United States is more than ten times higher than with Russia.
Next we will say that Russia has fully shown itself in the role of aggressor. And from now on, all of Moscow’s claims about the “intra-Ukrainian conflict” have completely lost all meaning. Everyone, even openly pro-Russian chauvinists who still remain in Ukraine, has finally seen what Russia is and has completely lost all arguments to justify its actions. And what justifications can there be when Russian troops massacre the Russian-speaking population in the Donbas under the guise of the Ukrainian Army.
Russia’s recognition of the “DPR” and “LPR” finally put it in international isolation. Everyone knows how Russia refused to participate in the Munich Security Conference. But the truth is, the Russian delegation was simply not allowed to attend. No visas were issued to enter Germany. And this is again a “great country” that “dictates its will to the West”. What Russia is was shown by the refusal of US President J. Biden to personally meet with V. Putin.
Moscow finally destroyed the Minsk agreements with its own hands. And who will now believe Moscow and will conclude any agreements with it. We have already written that “a Muscovite cannot be trusted”. To nothing he says and under no circumstances. Having recognized the “DPR” and “LPR”, Russia has reaffirmed this.
All of Moscow’s claims to Russia’s “security guarantees” have also been completely rejected. Well, what “guarantees” can be given to an aggressor who shamelessly disregards international law. This means NATO’s further expansion to the East, deployment of strike weapons systems near Russia’s borders, and inclusion of Moscow in the European theater of operations. And how will Russia be able to react to this with all its “hypersonic” weapons, which in reality do not exist.

…Any normal people would have long ago overthrown leaders, like in the Kremlin… |
And in addition to all this, Russia has faced a new package of critical sanctions. And this is how Russian oligarchs, members of the Russian parliament (if you can call it that), as well as ordinary citizens of this unfortunate country, who are not guilty of anything, feel now. If any normal people had been them, they would have long ago overthrown such leaders.
At the same time, we would like to return to the issues closer to us. What does all this mean for Ukraine? As we wrote before:
- firstly, it is Ukraine’s direct course to NATO and opening of opportunities for the effective protection of our country’s territories. And no Russian army will be able to prevent this. Our Western partners have already provided us with so many weapons that they can destroy all Russian tanks and aviation;
- secondly, Moscow has completely lost the opportunity to regain its control over Ukraine. From now on, only Kremlin propagandists, some pro-Russian part of Ukrainian society that still remains in our country, and self-proclaimed President of Belarus A. Lukashenko, who for some reason hopes that Ukraine will join the Russian-Belarusian “union state”, can talk about “friendship” between Russia and Ukraine;
- thirdly, we will never give up our independence, no matter how much Russia wants it. Speaking in sincere Russian, “there are many of us at every kilometer”. And Russia should know this.
To sum up all the above said: all obstacles to Ukraine’s accession to NATO have been completely removed, and Russia is facing the real prospect of devastating sanctions.
