Germany is trying to justify the need to complete the Nord Stream 2
The political struggle in Germany is heating up. Angela Merkel’s retirement and coming to power of a new Chancellor with new views on environmental protection and, ultimately, on defending national interests in the context of international relations, including with Russia, will be a new page in the history of Germany, the European Union and geopolitical future of all countries of the region.
The prospects for German cooperation with Russia, including economic cooperation, are becoming uncertain. Taking into consideration the uncertain future of V. Putin himself due to the rapid decline in his popularity both internationally and domestically, it is difficult to predict prospects for cooperation with his possible successor. However, there are agreements with energy corporations and financial giants that rely on economic benefits of operating the gas pipeline, apparently promised to them by A. Merkel. And A. Merkel is not stopped by the threat of Russia’s possible military invasion of Europe through the open strategic corridor, from which an important gas pipeline operating in Ukraine will be removed.
