An Assessment of the Security Challenges in the Black Sea Region

The President of the “Borysfen Intel” Center Victor Hvozd took part in the workshop, organized in Bucharest

 

The New Strategy Center (Romania) and Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies (Ukraine) organized in Bucharest a new event dedicated to the security challenges in the Black Sea region.

The debate focused on an assessment of the security situation of the Black Sea region and its possible evolution, from the perspective of both classic and emergent threats.

The President of the Independent Analytical Center for Geopolitical Studies “Borysfen Intel” Center Victor Hvozd on  September 11th 2019 took part in the panel “An assessment of the security challenges in the Black Sea region”.

On this occasion, experts from Ukraine and the USA were invited, including Mykhailo Samus, Deputy Director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies (Ukraine), Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Brian Keller, former Director for Military Support of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, former EUCOM Director of Intelligence (USA), Vice Admiral (Ret.) Serhiy Hayduk, former Commander of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Pavlo Lakiychuk and Oksana Ishchuk from the Center for Global Studies ”Strategy XXI” (Ukraine).

At the same time, the participants benefited from the expertise of Ambassadors, members of the Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center Sergiu Celac and Lazăr Comănescu, Senior Associate Experts of the New Strategy Center Bg. Gen. (Ret.) Mircea Mîndrescu and Bg. Gen. (Ret.) Daniel Ioniță.

On  September 12th 2019 the New Strategy Center also organized a workshop on the potential scenarios and evolutions of the security in the Black Sea region: “Predicting the unpredictable. Black Swans in the Black Sea” reunited experts from Romania, Ukraine and the USA.
