August 24, 2022, marks half a year since the beginning of the full-scale war that Russia started against Ukraine. During this time, our country has become stronger, and our army has changed completely. However, the war has reached a stalemate. Military expert Ivan Sichen told about this in a comment to Gazeta.ua.
“Over these six months, Ukraine has changed completely. We have become stronger and united. Our army has changed completely. It was at a good level even before that. But now it is one of the strongest in the world. We are actually moving to NATO standards. We will have modern missile systems, tanks. The army command system has also changed. It has become more mobile and modern. The army has high-precision weapons. While Russia is returning to the standards of the USSR”, says Sichen.
The war has come to a standstill, the expert emphasizes.
“On the one hand, Russia cannot advance because it has exhausted its potential. On the other hand, we cannot quickly liberate the occupied territories, because we act by completely different methods. The Russians are simply destroying cities. But we can’t do that. It is necessary to act more selectively — to strike at warehouses and command posts. We will not kill our people”, says Sichen.
The war has entered a protracted phase, the expert believes.
“Although the Russians have now started forming new battalions. But people don’t want to go there. Even in depressed regions. Only those who sit in the rear want to fight. Young people do not want to die in war. Our patriotism has not gone anywhere. People go to war. Six months of war have completely changed our country”, adds Sichen.
